Earth Colors Layout

So I was desperately in need of a new layout. Don't get me wrong; I loved the layout with Dayna's pandas. It just wasn't 100% me.

I was looking around my old layouts in my local WordPress install and came across the left-aligned purple layout. I decided to revive it with new colors. I started out with all the same colors as now except the sidebar was dark blue. It seemed off to me. So, I was playing around in Brent's color palletes, and tried out a brown color for it. It's perfect! It reminds me of grass and dirt and springtime, for which I am desperately wishing.

I'm so sick of winter it's not even funny. The bad weather keeps me holed up in my apartment and I hate that. This past Wednesday we had an ice storm which wasn't the worst, but it was pretty bad. Lots of communities in the state of Iowa are still without power. Yesterday there was still a thick coat of ice on the trees, which meant branches were falling on power lines, people and cars. I was sitting in my car last night, warming it up, and a small branch fell on my windshield. It was icy enough that it made a loud noise and scared me!

Now, looking at the forecast, we're due for more snow Monday and Thursday. Before it was supposed to snow tomorrow and Wednesday as well, but they changed it. I'm really hoping it stays that way because I may have a chance to go home next weekend.

Right now it's raining pretty hard and it may cause flooding. When it rains, it pours, I guess.

I love the colours of this layout! It reminds me of Spring as well.

It's terribly hot in Singapore right now and I'm practically begging for rain. I feel like I'm being barbecued everyday.

Hopefully the weather turns warmer for you. :)

Well I love green, and green+brown combo looks fab so I am sold. :D

I have couple questions though (I am using Firefox 3.6 on Linux). Is the comment field supposed to be pink? I clicked the comment link and PINK. It doesn't look horrible but it's surprising. Another thing is that the text above the input fields could have little left-padding.

Other than that this looks really cool. :D

@Dayna: Thanks! I wish it were warmer here. :(

@Hanna: Whoops! I completely forgot about the comments form. I've styled everything up now and it should look alright.

I actually love this design! <3 The colours, the way it has been set up (I used to always do left-aligned designs, I <3 them) and… just everything about it! :)

I love the roundness of the layout. The colors are just amazing. Like always. I love the left align layouts. I have one up right now but it doesn't look as awesome as yours. hehe. XD

Hey! I love the new layout! It's great! I like the peace sign hover too! Great touch! ^_^
How'd you get the rounded corners and everything on the layout? I've been trying to figure that one out, if there was any way. I don't have photoshop or anything, only gimp, and you can't really make rounded corners (as far as I know) with gimp… but I've heard you can do that through the css…

How is Holdfire? I'm just curious. I took a look at it. It seems really expensive! Even for the shared hosting! O_o

I use GIMP too and you can do round corners with it. When you choose retangle tool there is a little box to check for rounded corners. I use GIMP with Linux but I am sure this is in other versions too (Mac, Windows…). If you don't have it, you probably should update it (2.6 is the latest version). But like Hannah I rather use moz-border-radius even though not all browsers support rounded corners yet.

I love it :O The sidebar is really organized. (Not that your previous layouts' weren't, but this one isn't fooling around.) Colors are great and so's the rollover effect on the site name.

Yay, it's nice! I hope the weather gets happy for you soon.

As much as I love winter (probably because it does get cold, but hardly ever snows), I'm wishing for warmer weather already as well. I hate being stuck inside because it's too cold, or it's raining (it may not snow, but it does rain sadly). Now that the magic of the holidays are over, winter isn't much fun anymore. So, I really do love this layout and I may keep coming back just to look at it. To remind me that spring is on it's way! :D

@Cara: I used -moz-border-radius:#px; in my CSS, so in browsers besides Firefox people are just seeing normal 90° angles. :( I hope that soon enough rounded corners will be supported by all browsers. Well at least all but IE. I'm not holding my breath for IE. And Holdfire is awesome :) You should look for their customized plans (go to my.holdfire.net/cart.php, it's in the dropdown) which are much cheaper. Seriously, though, you get what you pay for.

    @Diana: I love organized. :D

@Everyone else: Thanks for the lovely comments on the layout. <333
