Okay, cool, already forgot to post once. That means I've kind of already failed at NaBloPoMo, but I will keep at it and see how often I can blog.
I have never really traveled much. When I was really little, my parents took me to New Jersey to the beach. When I was in middle school I spent about two weeks in Philadelphia with my cousins. A few years ago we went to Chicago and last summer to Milwaukee. Still, we haven't gone as far as New Jersey and Philly since. Most of our "vacations" are weekends to other places in the state. My parents would love to take a vacation, especially my mom. She wants to go to Hawaii and Mexico.
Why Hawaii? Uhh… why not? And why Mexico? Half of my late uncle's (Mom's little brother) ashes are spread in Cozumel, Mexico (the other half being on our farm). I would love to visit there someday.
I've been given my final project in my MS Office class to arrange a trip for two to a state with a budget of $3000 and show my skills by using Word, Excel and PowerPoint documents detailing the trip. We drew for the state to go to, and I drew Hawaii. I think that's some sort of a sign. I was talking to my mom last night and I decided to have her be my "friend" on the trip and plan it as if we were seriously going there next summer. So far I've decided to fly into Honolulu and stay there for at least the first night, if not all nights we're there. I've got a big list of major events on the islands and after I pick a good time to go, I have to find prices for plane tickets. After that I can plan whatever. I wish we could stay for a week but I doubt it's going to happen on that budget. I'll see what I come up with.
Oh and get this. I got on Google Maps and for kicks asked for directions from Des Moines, Iowa to Honolulu by car. It takes you up to Washington (the state), up and around the peninsula, and then tells you to "Kayak across the Pacific Ocean" with a distance of 2,756 miles. LOL.
