If I hear another person bitch and moan about "another WordPress update" I'm going to go insane. WordPress is provided to the community for free, and is a wonderful tool for blogging. Yet people complain. Oh, they update too much! It's so hard to upgrade. Why do I have to update so much?

Shut up. Seriously, just shut up. Would you rather WordPress not be actively developed? Would you rather the developers not work to improve existing features and implement new ones? Would you rather they not update to keep your website safe and secure against hackers? I didn't think so. It got even easier with the one-click upgrade. It is not that hard. You're just lazy.

Let's see, which is easier?: a) spending five-ten minutes upgrading WordPress (one or two with automatic upgrade within WordPress or with software like Installatron or Fantastico) or b) starting fresh with a new blog because you didn't upgrade and got hacked. Hmm… that's a tough one, but I'll go with option a.

So stop complaining. You should be thanking all of the hard work that goes into creating WordPress. If you still don't like it, remember that no one is holding a gun to your head and forcing you to use WordPress. There are other options out there: FanUpdate, FlatPress, Chyrp, TextPattern, Expression Engine, and Habari to name a few.

I'm sticking with WordPress because I know the template system like I know English. I love that it's actively developed and updated. I love that freelance clients can use it and feel like they're in control of their website. I love that it's good enough to use by itself but also has many plug-ins I can use to extend its functionality.

So, with that, thank you Automattic and the WordPress team. You rock.

Sorry that I got a little worked up in this entry, but it's probably because I watched House just before (LAST week's episode- I watch them online the 8 days after they air). House always gets me into a sort of ranty mood. :P
